Events Calendar Needed

I've written a small events application, where a date driven event is entered into a mysql DB.

 

My client would like a calendar the the day of an event a different color rather the the list of events sorted by the dates.

 

Any direction or suggestions for a simple calendar application that I can interface with the DB table and date field.  It would be good to have the ability to link to a page via a unique ID number that show details of the event.

 

I don't want to re-write the event app just interface the calendar.
