methomps
Hi guys, I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on a forum application that is well-suited to these needs: - ability to automate creation of subforums and auto-assign moderator functions to those subforums - ability for users to post as alter-egos (eg, both the user and as a character) - ability to integrate with site's userbase (eg, registering with the site automatically creates the user in the forums, logging in with the site logs in with the forum) I am creating an online baseball game. When someone creates a team, I want a subforum created with them as the moderator. I want users to be able to indicating they are posting as their baseball player. sKunKbad
I've never heard of such a thing as a forum allowing for users to post as another username. I've moderated or admined a VBulletin forum, and also a phpBB forum, and they don't have anything like this that I'm aware of. You're probably stuck with writing a custom plugin or creating a whole forum from scratch.
WolfRage
Although Drupal may not have this exact functionality, it is as close as you are going to get. It is excellent at linking forums and their corresponding website(s) and other data all together as an entity. It also provides the most flexibility and automation of any system I have seen. http://drupal.org/
haku
I agree. And there I've even read of modules that are similar to what you describe, though I don't believe they were exactly what you describe. I unfortunately don't remember exactly which modules they were though - I spend a lot of time just browsing through Drupal modules to keep track of whats out there.
