therealwesfoster
Lets say I want a series of number on a webpage that will update LIVE without refreshing the page? I would need ajax. Now what would be the most server friendly way to get variables from the DB every 5 seconds? Any tips, documents, ideas you can share? This will involve php, so this may be the right forum Wes
p2grace
xajax and setTimeout should easily do the trick.
therealwesfoster
Never heard of xajax.. I'm reading up on it now. Thanks. Anyone else?
gizmola
Querying the database every 5 seconds will most certainly put a substantial load on the database. What is the data, and why do you need to query it every 5 seconds?
therealwesfoster
Well maybe even 10 seconds. Someone I know needs this done, and while I've brought up the server issues, they still want to do it. So I'm just wondering what the best way would be to save as much server resources as possible
