At the risk of annoying you all in the same way as the old lady who gets on the bus before you, counting out her pennies and taking a lifetime to reach her seat, I am completely new to this and whilst I am picking it up as I go along I would really appreciate some help.

I am in the middle of creating a website for which I need a members area, I didn't really want to use .htaccess because I don't think it looks very professional.

Alas I have just uploaded php members area via ftp into my root directory, I'm already assuming that I've done something wrong to be honest, but if not-great!

My question is what do I do now? How do I create my members area on my site and link it with php?

Where do I test drive a mock signup? I know I must be unbelievably irritating and I do appreciate all help offered!

Also...do I need a MySQL database in conjunction with php members area? As the tables look quite daunting  :wtf:

As I have mentioned, all help will be AMAZING.

Thanks  :facewall:
