Hi,

I'm new to php, and I heard someone reccomend XAMPP for beginners. It's supposed to install and configure Apache, PHP, Mysql, phpmyadmin, Peal & a basic mailserver for use as a development enviroment.

Project Page: http://sourceforge.net/projects/xampp/ <-- I couldn't find much info here, just the basics. So, should go this route or install the different components separately? Has anyone heard of or used XAMPP? Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Yours truly,

Maat

It is up to you how you setup the AMP stack (Apache, PHP and MySQL). If you want AMP to be setup quickly with worrying about configuration then use XAMPP. However I do recommend you to install Apache, PHP and MySQL separately.
