Need guidance and principles on which to develop a new PHP application

Hi all,

 

I am new to PHP and want to develop a new application on the language. I have the idea, but all I have is an Idea. Since I can only create very simple PHP apps which are hardly of a few lines across a couple of pages, I would need help from the experts here.

 

I am aware of the C/C++ and the UNIX shell programming and hence PHP seems to be really great combining the power of both! But just like with any other programming language, a design needs to be build upon the foundation powers provided by the language. I would like some of you to redirect me to a page which will help me reduce the most common mistakes of the language and help me take wiser decisions while creating the design of the application.

what exactly do u want to make? we cant help you if you dont tell us what you want help making... have you started this project yet do you have any codes already made?
