Having a Problem Conceptually: Updating Records, DW CS3

Hi all,

 

I am developing a website that has the user run through multiple pages with forms that need to be submitted by the user, that results in a personalized end product.

 

I cant seem to get the forms to Update the database.

 

Is there a tutorial for updating records using DW CS3 using sessions, where the runtime variable is set to the session variable (as the filter) to identify the unique record (which is the process I'm using but it's not working) to execute the update.

 

The only stuff I can find in the books I have uses a unique value passed through a URL to the page with the form, then uses that value in a hidden field on the form to identify the correct record.

 

Any input is appriciated, even non DW CS3 tutorials that use sessions for the form update.
