Suggestion on "Search Engine" script approach

Hello i'm new here

 

I'd like to build a script to search in multiple sites and display the results ordered as "I" prefer.

As those websites already have an internal search engine I'd use those ones rather than a Google API

Mainly I'd deal with Wordpress or Joomla based sites, so what I was thinkin it was to interrogate their DB through their own search engine and grab the results.

Here's my doubt, I was thinking about cURL method, but I'm afraid it could use too many resources of my host, though I could eventually cache them.

What do you suggest me to do?
