Yes, but the "content" will not be what you really want. The content will include a lot of markup data that describes how the content will be displayed. So, it will basically be unreadable in its native format. To make matters worse MS has recently changed the format of Word docs from a prioprietary format to an XML type format.

 

Your best bet is to find an existing class to read the files for you.
