I am using cython to make a dll, I am able to use cython to create and export fine.

I am also using Game Maker (That is what I initially wrote the dll for). The problem I am having is with strings I believe.

As a test I wrote this:

cdef extern char* get_scores(char* userID, char* gameID, char* gameStamp):
urlStr = 'http://gmserver.net/read/'+ str(userID) +'/'+ str(gameID) +'/'+ str(gameStamp)
return "I Am Here!"

When I import it into Game Maker, I get an error message

But... If i comment out one of the lines like this:

cdef extern char* get_scores(char* userID, char* gameID, char* gameStamp):
return "I Am Here!"

It works!

Why does the first one not work, but the second one does work?

Note: Game Maker only accepts values that are returned as "double" or char/const char
