mastagino
Hello and thank you for ready my issue. I have been working on a php/mySql driven site for the past 8 months, and as I approach my launch date, I am having a big problem. At first I thought it could be user based, and my configuration was off on my computer, but this issue is not only being experienced by me, but when I test on other computers, and colleagues from other countries. Ironically, each time I get support from iPower when the issue is happening, they tell me they can see the site fine, and there is no issue on their end. Here is a screenshot of the problem: To explain the problem further, it is very intermittent, and fixes itself after about 20 minutes. It happens frequently during the day, and when it happens for 1 user, it doesn't necessarily happen for the other. Also another odd characteristic, and this one makes the problem even stranger. When the timeout suddenly occurs, and I have been using Firefox, well if I open IE6 or IE8, well the site is still working, I can log in and visit all pages. On occasions, the error makes it that no matter what browser I am using (FF,Safari,IE6,IE8), I get the time out. It really varies. I desperately need help on this one, as my ticket with iPower has been opened for 2 weeks, with dozens of updates, and they cannot help me.... Maybe someone has seen this before? Thanks! jbvg
I have been experiencing the exact same problem, also with ipower, for a little while now. I even created a simple php page that has nothing in it other than html. When any of my pages don't work, that page also doens't work. I either get a blank page, or get the connection was reset error. I even get this if I try an invalid path to a non-existant php page. And then, like you, it will suddenly return to working. I have contacted ipower, but I suspect I will get the same response as you, that it works when they try it. I'll let you know if I hear back anything useful. I imagine it's some issue of
mastagino
I have gotten another response from the iPOwer support. Irresistable
It sounds like your hosting may have continuously server problems, or Ipower, is generally crap? Not sure. I would recommend either bugging your webhost on the problem, or IPower until you get a response. Im guessing IPower is your network host, not the website host. mastagino
That would be an idea, but that doesnt explain the connection reset for 1 user, and not others. Ill keep bugging them, but I have gotten 7 replies so far in my ticket, and each time their 2nd level support informs me nothing is wrong, when there is clearly a problem.... Irresistable
Just checked out Ipower, and its a webhost. It might be wise to provide screen shots from all the computers you can use that displays the connection reset. They might be able to investigate further.. mastagino
Hmm I dont see what 4 screenshots of the same error in Firefox will help them solve it, Ill try and provide the exact time when it happens to me, maybe this way they can investigate further. Maybe others are experiencing this same problem with iPower in the last 6 days or so.
Irresistable
They won't be able to solve it from the screen shots or anything, but they can easily see there is a problem, and they'll try find out whats causing it.
mastagino
I have been going on and off with ipower support, but no luck. Problem still hapenns dozens of times daily on the site. When it happens with Firefox, I switch to Internet explorer, and most of the times it works for a while, until internet explorer spits out the loading error. Also I found out another weird thing. In the images below, if I type the URL without the index.php in the address, the site loads partially, not loading the images from the DB. All links I click will give the error message. Now if I put the index.php in the url, it doesnt work.... This error lasts always between 5-20 minutes...
sp@rky13
FYI. You didn't do a good job at hiding the URL working fine for me lol. First screen shot has it and the tab in the second or third
mastagino
lol yeah just hiding the address until my site is live Didnt do a great job! Well like I said Its intermittent, and it seems to be user based, meaning it blocks the user randomly from time to time. It could work for 1 person, but not another, and vise versa. I keep getting an answer from iPower: have checked your websites at URL http://**********.com/ http://**********.com***.php and its loading fine from our end. Also, I have checked it in one of the website Monitoring service website at http://internetsupervision.com/ , the performance of the websites is fine all over the world. Could you please check it once again from your end? I mean This problem is happening also to some of the developers working on parts of my site in India. So I am not crazy, and Its not a virus on my machine as I have tested from multiple places...
Irresistable
Seems to be a big issue.. Try swapping hosts, OR getting another host to check it... eg: Hostgator (There my preferred) At the moment, I'm having huge hate for PHPFreaks, the members are so twatty.. I'm setting up my own development site, www.developers-community.com It's still being built, but I need members to help get it .. more fulfilled. DC, will be kind, I've been told, if a post doesn't have enough information, it'll get ignored. As kindness out of people.. they should reply, ask questions to get more information. Stupid people.. mastagino
Well i checked the server availability worldwide and got the below information. With this iPower seems to be doing some investigation now... Finally..
Irresistable
Thats a nice tool, I'll try it myself Your website seems to work for me, however.. it is slow. I had the same problem yesterday I contacted my webhost, they found out there was a problem with the server my website was on. Too much traffic. They fixed the problem for me. Though I'm not sure if it was what you had exactly. Glad to see there actually investigating now.

mastagino
Actually I just got this answer last night. I was unable to test on my own behalf, but I will check and see if everything is normal. In the meantime, they wrote this: **************************************** Thank you for your patience while we addressed this issue. Our Network Operations team was able to determine that there was load on our system that was causing this issue. They were able to identify the source of the load and correct it. At this time all website services should be back to normal.
