Setting the page width

When I look at web sites on my flat sceeen most websites fill it up. When I look at them on my laptop there is an area on each side of the screen with no content.  I know this is to do with the aspect ration of the screens.

 

How do I make my pages work like?

Make the width extend to the full width of the screen.

I've done this and it looks good.
