Help With 1 Little Tweak On Form Validation Script

I want the id displayed instead of the name for each form element that returns an error.  Here is the code that I have so far:

I know that part I need to actually change is the "nm" part, but nothing I put seems to return the id for each form element.  Please help gurus

Try changing

to

 

if (val) { nm=val.id; if ((val=val.value)!="") {
