PHP email attachment shows as a bunch of text data

I found this topic in another section ( http://www.phpfreaks.com/forums/index.php/topic,281841.0.html ) but thought it may possibly belong here because I have a similar problem - and I suspect it is a server configuration issue.

 

Basically, an email is sent with an attachment using mail() and the email arrives with the attachment showing up as scrambled text in the body of the email.

 

Now, I have used exactly the same script successfully on another shared server. But it has the aforementioned problem on a different shared server.

 

Happy to post code if required but it really sounds like a server configuration problem. Could I be right? And if so, anyone know a resolution?
