URL Encode for SEO

Hi

May sound a bit simple and silly, but whats the best way to approach this.

Basically my current framework operates using modrewrite so I can have urls like .com/news/1-this is a article title/

What I would like to know, what would the best way to encode the 'this is a article title' section of this.

Such as should I use _ or - for spaces etc?

It's just a matter of preference, really. Search Engine find both hyphens and underscores equally acceptable. If you use hyphens for spaces, you'll have to check your titles if they contain hyphens in them (as part of the title itself such "Part 1 - foobar" and potentially strip those out. It's the same with Underscores too, only with underscores.
