reading information from another website?

hello, i have noticed a few times where a site uses information from another site... one example is tip.it using information from runescape.com

 

information from:

http://services.runescape.com/m=hiscore/hiscores.ws

 

is used on:

http://www.tip.it/runescape/?page=fletching_calc.htm

 

for example, if you enter the runescape username on the tipit form, it will pull the information from the runescape page... how is this done?

 

if you want to play around with those sites, you can use the name 'smerny'

You can use file_get_contents() and then sort through the file and get what you need using preg_match()
