I was looking at the tutorials and I am following along pretty well, but I would like to be able to use pictures or links instead of forms to send data.

Using this as my example how would I use a link instead of a form to send info

http://www.w3schools.com/PHP/php_ajax_poll.asp

Thanks.

2 Examples Show Onclick - so when you click, it will activate the javascript function which contains your AJAX-request

onclick="AJAX_1();"

onclick="AJAX_1('/w/chat.php?time_stamp=post_data','location','post_only');"// This Example is my personal code for my AJAX post / get handler // AJAX (var_location_url_and_query , var_output_id , method_to_use);

2 Examples Show How you can add OnClick to an <IMG> *OR* a TABLE <TD> field

<img onclick="AJAX_1();" src=/i/chat_icons/scared.gif>

<TD onclick="AJAX_1();" bgcolor=#999900>

I appreciate the post, but I am not sure what to do with that.  I am not trying to code a bunch of javascript and I also don't want to use some bloated library.  I just need ajax to add a +1 or -1 on my site for a user rating news system type of thing.  I have found tons and tons of them that use forms, but I was hoping to just use a link click then after it is clicked to show the results.

Real simple no extras.  Thanks for any help.
