underscore and dash character .htaccess problem

Recommended Posts

I would like to create a subdomain for user and everything will be redirected to page1.php

The problem is that when there is a special character in the subdomain let say

Da-vinci.mydomain.com or Da_vinci.mydomain.com

Url appears this way:  Da-vinci.mydomain.com/page1.php?user=Da-vinci

I wish to have this only Da-vinci.mydomain.com or Da_vinci.mydomain.com without any page1.php?user=Da-vinci

Can anyone help me with my .htaccess??

Below is what i did

<IfModule mod_rewrite.c>

Options +FollowSymLinks

Options +Indexes

RewriteEngine On

RewriteBase /

RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} !www.mydomain.com$ [NC]

RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^([a-z0-9-]+).mydomain.com [NC]

RewriteRule (.*) page1.php?user=%1 [L]

</IfModule>

Thx for any helps, as i really newbie on this matter
