I have a simple question =)

I was wondering what that menu on forums is called that are like

[ b ], [ i] , [ u ], [ font color= ]

 

and replaces it to real HTML after submitted. I was wondering so I could look up how to do it, cuz im making a forum. I just don't know what it's called. Thank you for anyone who knows!
