I building a websites in multiple languages.

for translations I have a table called text

text has the following columns

id, languageid, type, text

the type is to make a difference between different kinds of text

for example the text that is part of the website interface is type 1 (buttons, instructions how to log in or reset passwd)

the brands of products are type 2

the description of products are type 3

This makes that I don't have to join tables if I want to get all the text of one type but I wonder if that is a good enough reason since I could get the same result by joining tables.

anybody care to comment ?
