PHP pages not rendering at all after mysql upgrade to 4.0.27

I just updated MySQL to 4.0.27 from 4.0.24 on an OpenBSD 3.8 server.  Now, PHP webpages are not rendering at all.

ie.  <address>/test.php, gives the following output:

<?php
phpinfo();
?>

Running PHP5.0.4 and Apache 1.3.29

Didn't touch the PHP packages, so not sure what is going on.

Any ideas?
