Selecting quantity in dropdown by default

Hey,

 

I am trying to determine the quantity of products within the quantity field of the database and make it so the drop down menu will have the quantity value selected. For example, if the database had a quantity field of 3 then 3 would be selected in the dropdown. Here is my code but it doesn't work, it just selects on 1 even though there is 3 in quantity.

 

for ($i=1;$i<$row1['quantity'];$i++) { 
if ($i==$row1['quantity']) { $default = ' selected="selected" '; }
echo '<option '.$default.' value="'.$i.'">'.$i.'</option>'; 
}

 

Any help appreciated here.
