my php not working.

Hi all

 

I need some suggestions on how I can get my PHP to work.

 

I am new to PHP and want to know more about the language.

 

Just recently brought a book for PHP and MySQL web development in the back contains the cd with these programs and Apache 2.2. I have loaded all three but I can not get PHP to work.

 

I discovered I had PHP in Dreamweaver CS4 so I am using that and whatever I do in HTML comes up in the broswer, so I got all that working ok, relating localhost. but when I drop a line of php into it aswell it does not show up at all.

 

I tried looking a some websites about loading PHP and followed instruction about configuration in Apache2.2 but still get the same results, NO PHP. Can anybody see where I am going wrong and throw some suggestions as what to do next.
