1064 SQLSTATE: 42000 (ER_PARSE_ERROR)

Hello,

 

I've got an error in filemaker pro 10 after I edited a table called delta in sequel pro. I don't know what to do. I searched the internet and I found a lot but the thing is that I'm not familiar with mysql. If someone could help me I would be very grateful.

The error message is: You have an error in your sql syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your sql mysql server version for the right syntax to use near 'Visit_id='02100301' AND Round_Number='1') OR (Visit_id='02100302' AND Round_Number' at line 1.

 

 

This is the syntax

Somewhere you will have a line that looks something like

 

SELECT *
FROM delta
WHERE (Visit_id='02100301' AND Round_Number='1')

OR (Visit_id='02100304' AND Round_Number='1') 

 

The error you are getting is with that statement (or possibly an UPDATE or DELETE statement) rather than the table create statement.

 

As an aside, having a table that large is generally not a good idea. The fields look like various measurements, which may or may not be there for a visit date. I would separate each pair of fields off onto a separate table, something like this

 

VisitUniqueId - ie, some way to refer to a combination of visit_id and round_number

MeasurementType - ie, whether it is Sternotch_carotid or Sternotch_radial or some other measure

DeltaValue

DeltaProcValue

 

You currently have around 470 columns of data, and I suspect that on most rows most of those fields are NULL.

 

Also, the field CornFB_delta doesn't appear to have a coresponding CornFB_deltaproc. Is that deliberate?
