corbeeresearch
Hi, My friend was considering to convert his html static site to a php dynamic website, but he is worried if this will restart search engines and affect SEO. so here are the questions: 1. If it does affect your website, do you have to start over again in your ranks? 2. how much impact does it have and is it a positive thing or not? His website is purely static and table based and I think he used the meta tag to optimize search engines. Thanks in advance
ngreenwood6
Depending on how you do it will be how the outcome is. You could optimize the meta tags once again on the new site. All of the old pages you will want to create 301 redirects for so that when the search engine tries to go to that page it will redirect them to the correct page so that it updates itself so that it knows it has been moved. I dont think it should have too much effect as long as you do it properly. I am no expert so take this with a grain of assault and if any one who knows better please correct. corbeeresearch
So does that mean your ranking will be restarted?
ignace
If your websites text remains the same you don't have anything to fear. You do need however to put a 301 (or 302?) to the new page.
