SSL GeoTrust FatApplication talking to php to post to mySQL

I have a application that I have created that is a Fat Application, but the client would like the application to have a Lock symbol that indicates that the connection is a secured 256 bit SSL. Now, if I was doing the application as a web based that would not be a problem, but I am not.

My question is, is there away to get some kind of php acknowledgment that would say that it is a secure connection back? to my application? So that if anyone clicks on the button that they would be able to see the certificate?
