fm
Hello phpfreaks, im need of help when it comes to my archive page. It is loading slow due to the fact there is too much content on one page. I dont know how to add a different page for it, so if you can help it would be appreciated. Here is the archive page... http://chikachikayea.co.cc/?page_id=
seanlim
yes, there is a noticeable lag time loading you page, but i doubt there is a need to create a new one. it looks nice the way it is you will simply need to create thumbnails of each image (possible to bulk convert) and display the thumbnails instead. currently, the entire image has to be transferred to the browser only for it to be shrunk to thumbnail size. this results in the lagginess. having said that, you could use some pagination scripts to limit the number of images shown per page and allow users to click through different pages. fm
thx for the feedback yea I dont know if you noticed, some of the images load pretty fast, but towards the newest uploads it starts loading slow due to the fact I stop making thumbnails for it, lol I got lazy and just made it resize the image. Would there be a possible way to have more than a page though, because I plan to have thousands of wallpapers on this site... and I dont know if thatll be reasonable to be posted on one page lol
seanlim
I assume you have your site all in PHP already? If not it'll be quite a nightmare to update the pages manually with thousands of images. Like I mentioned, look into pagination so that (just search for "php pagination"), plenty of explanations and even classes for your use.
