While loop -> Array -> Sort -> Remove duplicates

Hello I have a while loop which outputs countrys from the database (im making a "filter by" function). For example, the loop outputs:

 

Denmark
Belgium
Holland
Brazil
Japan
Brazil
Denmark

 

I want to sort these alphabetically and then remove duplicates... Can somebody explain to me how? I don't know how to get them into an array to do it...

You don't know how to get them into an array?

 

Instead of echoing them, do $arrayVariable[] = $whateverYouAreEchoing;

 

Then:

$arrayVariable = array_unique($arrayVariable);
sort($arrayVariable);

You would want to do this directly in your query, using one of the following two methods -

 

1) SELECT country FROM your_table GROUP BY country

 

2) SELECT DISTINCT country FROM your_table ORDER BY country
