phpMyAdmin doesn't recognise MySQL Server downgrade

Hello!

I installed MySql Server 5.5.8 and php 5.2.16 and phpMyAdmin 3.3.8.1.

I got the error: Your PHP MySQL library version 5.0.51a differs from your MySQL server version 5.5.8. This may cause unpredictable behavior.

There really were more errors - for example that it didn't connect to the server:

mysql_connect() [function.mysql-connect]: Access denied for user 'user'@'localhost' (using password: YES) in C:\Program Files (x86)\Apache Software Foundation\Apache2.2\htdocs\e-peds\Source\includes\db_connect.php on line 3

and that it didn't recognise my blowfishsecret in the config.inc.php file (and a few more, but not so important).

So I downgraded my Server to 5.0.51a and restarted the computer and the server and I  still get the same error mentioned above.

Can anyone please offer me some advice?

Thanks in advance for your response!
