query join help

I have two tables

Table rooms:

id areaid room
1 ED 	        TA
2      ED            TB

Table visit_data:

visitid      cc               areaid       room
1             throat        ED             TA

What I want to accomplish is a query that returns all rooms for a given area and the visit_data that matches that room number so I can loop it and echo out a table out of the rooms with the visit_data info in it. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Not tested:

SELECT rooms.visit_data, rooms.areaid, rooms.room
    FROM visit_data
    LEFT JOIN rooms
    ON rooms.room = visit_data.room

Go through this join tutorial, it'll help teach you how to do it yourself.

This did work:

SELECT visit_data.cc, rooms.areaid, rooms.room
    FROM rooms
    LEFT JOIN visit_data
    ON rooms.room = visit_data.room WHERE visit_data.discharged IS NULL

Thanks!
