changing page without refreshing

hi all! i want to fetch the record fro the database and display it when i click the next button, without refreshing the page..

and this would happen everytime, i.e the nex button will be shown on the next page also, so there will be a loop.

so i guess it cud only be done through ajax. whats the statement or funcion for it plz.. anyone?
