compiling PHP Version 5.2.14 on MAC Os v10.5.8

hey all

 

I've been doing my development on my Mac and I just ran into an issue this week.  I'm playing around with the Yii framework and In order for my database connection to work I need to install the PDO MySQL extension.  apparently I need to recompile php with that extension? or can that just be added on top?

 

if I need to recompile, what is the safe way of doing it?  I would hate to compile and have the whole thing crap out on me and then I'm stuck with NO php whatsoever..

 

I've never compiled php from scratch so don't worry about dumbing down your answers!
