columns?

Ello,

 

I've started to think anbout reinventing the 'tragedy' that was my old site.  Learning about the css way of things and easy question i think...

 

I see a lot of 2 / 3 column examples but...i think I want more, maybe 4 or 5.  reason is I've been having a look at the grid layout and I reckon the site would look ok with 3 but I want more.

 

POssibly a left nav, then a small column displaying images of most recent members then then content then the featured pics on the right with an ad on the far right.

I also want to use a % / fluid layout.

Question being, is it the same principle for setting up more colums as it is with 2 or 3?

 

I havent put any of this into practive but I'm thinking  I'll need the main content set at 90 or so, then the nav will be floated left with the smaller column also floated left but with the margin that is the size of the nav bar + a bit more for space?  Then, repeat for the right?

 

I might not have the left nav but it's good to knwo how if I do decide on it.

Grid systems are a great way to layout your website in an orderly way without trying to achieve the save with pretty much often redundant code.
