Platform: windows 7 professional

mysql server : 5.5.11

apache: 2.2

php: 5.3.6

I am trying to connect to my mysql server on localhost using the following code:

<?php
$link = mysql_connect('localhost', 'root', 'Password123');
if (!$link) {
    die('Could not connect: ' . mysql_error());
}
echo 'Connected successfully';
mysql_close($link);
?>

I get the error: Fatal error: Call to undefined function mysql_connect() in C:\Program Files\Apache Software Foundation\Apache2.2\htdocs\a.php on line 2

This code was in the php manual. I have done the following:

1. Configured php.ini

removed the semicolons in front of the mysql lines.

2. Googled a lot. Still could not find a solution

3. phpinfo(); just shows 1 module related to mysql which is mysqlnd

4. I am attaching my php.ini just in case you need it.

Any help would be really appreciated. Thank you.
