Add publish date to RSS feed (Newbie Question)

Newbie here and I seek guidance!

 

Listed below is the code I have so far. It was bundled as part of a script. I just had a friend help me clean up some junk that was in it which was of great help.

Now my problem is that it needs publish dates. I have no experience with this.

 

Can anyone point me in the right direction?

edit: Here is what we removed -

 

print "  <description>\n";

print "    <![CDATA[";

print $description;

print "    ]]>\n";

print "  </description>\n";

 

Now one does print the date, but it merely prints it out below the content and feedburner doesn't accept this. I will report back any discoveries.
