I am planning to make a web application that will serve as an online diary. Users will be able to make daily entries which will contain text and images. Assuming that the application's user base will grow to 100,000 users in a year, which PHP framework is best suited for the development of this project? What are the pros and cons of the different frameworks in this regard?

Thanks a lot for your time.

Finally someone to help me discuss this type of subject.

I'm about to buy my first php code generator and tested more then 5 this month, there is two different types: database driven (phprunner, codeigniter, ironspeed) and the application oriented (scriptcase)

The database driven are almost the same, one is a little better than other in a few things, but i can tell you that they are almost the same time, what will make you chose one instead of the other will be your personal taste.

The application oriented one, scriptcase, it is a little bit different, it runs in the browser, acept more then one developer using the framework at the same time and it has the better site of then all.

I think ANY of those that i've talked about it will help you alot, about which one i will buy, i'm almost buying the scriptcase with 3 connections so 3 ppl may be logged into the framework at the same time.

Hope that i helped you a little bit.

A wordpress or drupal might be enough for you.  A fire-and-forget CMS will have all the features you need for this sort of thing.  They might not be fully sequestered into the own feeds, but I'm sure a module exists so that you can separate each user's posts into their own sections.

Also, your application will NOT get 100,000 users in the first year.  I don't care how good you think the idea is or how much you're going to spend on advertising.  Twitter only had 1,200,000 TWEETS in the year after it was founded.  Not users, posts.
