vipsa
I am new to this so please understand my ignorance. I get the following error and I cannot figure out what it means since the code comes directly from a book. Here is the error: Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_STRING, expecting T_VARIABLE in C:\wamp\www\learnPHP\inheritance.inc on line 13 Here is the code <?php require "unitCounter.inc"; class caseCounter extends unitCounter { (line 13) var unitsPerCase; function addCase() { $this->add($this->unitsPerCase); } function caseCount() { return ceil($this->units/$this->unitsPerCase); } function caseCounter($caseCapacity) { $this->unitsPerCase = $caseCpacity; } } ?> Quote Link to comment https://forums.phpfreaks.com/topic/249220-what-is-a-t_variable-please/ Share on other sites
silkfire
The "var" keyword is deprecated and you should not use it. You forgot a $ sign in front of your variable. I'm quite sure you don't need that variable declaration there are at all. At least change it to $unitsPerCase = 0.
