Concerned about Security of a script

I have a php script and I am not too sure about the publisher

 

my question is if I install this script into its own folder on my apache server

 

and assign it it's own Mysql database and user

 

would this script be able to access or modify any other areas on my server

 

let me know if that is a security risk or if it would be contained to the folder I install it in and the database I assign to it.

You can't make that assumption.

 

Without looking at the script and seeing what it does, nobody can.
