Mod Rewrite Rules - One works, one doesn't.

Flukey

Recommended Posts

Hey,

I'm using a mod rewrite rule for my site, and one of the rules works(index.php) but the other doesn't (article.php), and i can't work out what the problem is. It's probably really easy to solve, but i've confused myself!

Anyhows, here is the script:
ErrorDocument 404 /missing.html
<IfModule mod_rewrite.c>
RewriteEngine on
RewriteBase /
RewriteRule ^article/([^/\.]+)/?$ article.php?article=$1 [L]
RewriteRule ^page/([^/\.]+)/?$ index.php?page=$1 [L]
</IfModule>
Thanks.

Jamie

Ok, worked it out.

For future reference to anyone else who has this problem.

The fancy url variable cannot be the same name as the filename.

E.g. i can't use article as the page name is called article.php

I'm going to use articles instead now.

Learn something new everyday, woot.
