Rifts
Hey guys! I'm trying to become a better php programmer and user error reporting to help if problems occur. anyway I think this would be simple but I'm not sure what to do. I have this code, if the $result fails and I want an email sent to me with the error but I'm not sure how to get the error. $query = (" SELECT id FROM myTable"); $result = mysql_query($query); if (!$result) { mail( '', 'Error', 'what do I put here to send the error' ); } else { whatever } Quote Link to comment https://forums.phpfreaks.com/topic/264209-help-with-error-reporting/ Share on other sites
scootstah
In this case, mysql_error. EDIT: But instead of doing it that way, you might want to set a custom error handler and use trigger_error when the query fails. This way your handling code is in one spot and not spread 6 ways from sunday throughout your application.
