Hi,

I have a logical question. I have a website where people can register. I would like to determine where they came from (i.e. how they stumbled onto my website) and save that to the database when they register. Is there a way to do this? Perhaps through google analytics tracking variables or something?

The reason I need to do this is because I eventually want to be able to tell which sources provide accounts that spend the most money on my site. So for example, people coming from forum X spend twice as much money as those who come from forum Y.

Thank you!! :)

Solved this, thank you. :)

I'm basically going to attach a ?refid=blah to each link i advertise, and record the "blah" in my database. That way I'll know which accounts came from which link, and the only blank records will be search traffic.

This thread is more than a year old. Please don't revive it unless you have something important to add.
