yoursurrogategod
Hi all, In my organization we have a small group that keeps track of medical terms in an Access database (they're secretaries and not very technically savvy, it works for them) and they'd like to take the contents of this database and move it to a web-app who's backend is a MySQL database. What would be the best way to make this conversion happen? The version of Access is: 2007 Quote Link to comment https://forums.phpfreaks.com/topic/270201-from-access-to-mysql/ Share on other sites
ManiacDan
Writing the web app is going to be your biggest problem. Once you have it written, moving the data isn't all that difficult. You just need to either write a script which outputs your Access data in valid MySQL queries, or use a pre-existing piece of software. This one was the first result in google. The web-app already exists. I was wondering how to move all of the data that's in Access into MySQL (over-writing all of the previous data in MySQL). Most options that I found online did not work (maybe I was looking in the wrong location?) ManiacDan
What have you tried? I gave you a link to software which looks like it would work, though when I've transferred databases I've always done it by hand. mikosiko
MYSQL provided a tool called "Mysql Migration ToolKit" as part of the old GUI Tools (replaced by MYSQL Workbenck), afaik they will still supporting the Migration ToolKit until they release a plugin for Workbenck. I have used myself the Migration Toolkit with Access in the pass and it works perfectly. http://dev.mysql.com...-tools/5.0.html Edited November 2, 2012 by mikosiko Quote Link to comment https://forums.phpfreaks.com/topic/270201-from-access-to-mysql/#findComment-1389731 Share on other sites
mikosiko
Correction to my previous post: ((it shows that has been a long time that I've not used the GUI tools) MYSQL Workbench already has the Migration Plugin incorporated ... you must test if migration from Access is allowed , if that works then it should be one of the tools alternatives Quote Link to comment https://forums.phpfreaks.com/topic/270201-from-access-to-mysql/#findComment-1389748 Share on other sites
