Help w/ accessing a variable in this wordpress 1-page plugin

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I'm a FreeBASIC programmer & I'm trying to hack this PHP wordpress plugin script. It looked simple because all the code is on 1 page!

The score value is printed to the webpage, but I cannot work with this score value at all.

I've spent all day trying to figure this out, but PHP is nothing like BASIC. I'm so lost, but it's a short script and if I just could access the value of this variable, I could accomplish my whole goal.

The script can be seen here:

http://buildingchurch.net/g2s-i.htm

When you answer all the questions, the page displays a score for each type-field.

In my hack, I'll only have 2 type fields instead of 16, like on this page. I just need to access the scoreValue for these 2 fields. The page prints the value out, but I want to add some code, like:

If (the scoreValue for type-field'X') >50 { $return_var .="Print this to the webpage" }

So far, I've done everything I could think of.

I've tried using global variables, like $ScoreV, and setting them within the scope of the function where the score values are calculated & using $ScoreV where the code edits the html output.

I've tried editing the html output from the function where the scoreValue is calculated.

The function is called w/ a command like 'onclick=calculateScore()' It's so bizarre. It's like I'm in another world.

If I try to do anything with the ScoreValue in it's function, it sets all the scores to 0.

I need some help. Any ideas on what I need to research to make this work?

I have figured out how to access the type-field variables, and the questions variables. It's like a simple array, similar to BASIC, but whatever array those scores are in, damn, it has me stumped.

Here's the code. Sorry it's so long.
