Should I store images in mysql?

Hi,

 

I have made a simple forum and am trying to add the ability for users to upload avatars from the register form.

 

I've got the form setup with the ability to select an image but i dont know if i should insert them into a table or what other alternatives there are. How would i insert the image into mysql then display it with html and php?

 

A link to a good article or tutorial would be good and some tips of the pros and cons doing this would be good.
