jawapro
Greetings all you smart people. Can you help out a fool like me please.I am using sessions for a PHP site - and I have two problems.First, the people I am building the site for want the sessions to last longer. We are using a Host in America (we are in Australia) and cant just go and change the php.ini because it's not our server. Is there another way of extending the sessions?Second Problem. The server seems to run some sort of garbage collection at midnight (4 in the arvo for us) and for about 15 minutes, the sessions keep timing out after a few minutes. Very annoying. Is there a way to stop the sessions being killed like that?Any advice would be very welcome.Thank you all.JawaPro
The Little Guy
Send an email to your hosting provider asking them if they are able to change it for you.
btherl
Some other possible solutions are:http://sg.php.net/manual/en/function.session-set-save-handler.phphttp://sg.php.net/manual/en/function.session-save-path.phpProviding your host hasn't disabled them. jawapro
I have changed the storage location for php sessions, which will hopefully fix the 4pm problem (hopefully) - have to wait to test it. So thanks for that.Any way to extend the length of sessions if you dont have access to the php.ini file?
