Hello everyone!

I'm old submariner turned technician, turned instructor, turned programmer. Over the past 15 years I would say I have written most of my apps (we used to call them programs  :happy-04: ) in VB6, C++, and currently VBA (Office stuff) connected to MS SQL at work. I'm interested in developing some competency in using PHP and MySQL in managing content on a new website I've created to host the various interests that my wife and I have. It's a non-commercial project.

We own two sites I wrote in PHP over the past couple of years. However, I generally learned just enough PHP to solve a problem, and then I moved on. So I'm relearning the construct of the language. I'm also fiddling with CSS and Javascript, even became a bit sidetracked working with HTML5 canvas today.

My objective is to develop a dynamic and rich environment for visitors using PHP, learning the nuts and bolts as I go along. Of course the speed in which I do this depends upon how much intensive coding I need to do at work. I no longer have the desire to code 16 hours a day....10 is about my max now.

I've read several topics before joining today and learned a few tidbits I didn't know...so I reasoned it would be profitable to get connected with these forums.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Regards,

Chuck
