Search Bar Keywords

ok so i have a search bar and when i search for keywords it doesnt get all the keywords here is how its setup

SELECT * FROM videos WHERE `tags` LIKE '%$search%' OR `name` LIKE '%$search%'

It doesn't get all the keywords that are in tags

 

for example if i search "soccer player in new york"

 

the tags are like "soccer,player,world,mls,futbol,spain,ronaldo"

 

it returns 0 videos

 

if i search "Soccer"

 

it returns 100 videos

I don't think LIKE can take multiple values to search. You have to perform like on each keyword. eg

SELECT col FROM table WHERE col LIKE '%keyword1%' 
                         OR col LIKE '%keyword2%'
                         OR col LIKE '%keyword3%' etc..

LIKE is a simple search, using AND versus OR yields different results as well.

 

If wanted a more advanced search try using full-text search in booleon mode
