Erika
Let's get this out of the way right away... while this is a paid job, it is probably most suitable for someone looking for a portfolio piece to showcase for their skills, as my budget for this free-to-use site is relatively low. Or perhaps a miracle will happen and I'll find an altruistic coder who just wants to help. I am building a pressed coin database application that people can use to keep track of their pressed coin collections.Skills required include PHP, MySQL, HTML5 (including geographic functions), Ajax, and jQuery. I'd like to build the project in stages and work closely with someone to ensure that it meets specifications--I recently worked with a coder on this project who jumped in without asking enough questions and built an app that was functional... but the functions weren't at all what I was looking for! When I pointed this out, and asked for changes, he quit, taking his code with him. I'm hoping that by working closely with a new coder, and explaining the desired function of the site in great detail, that this won't happen--I'm looking to build a good relationship, as well as an application. Some brief details: * Each coin is unique, and will be associated with a specific location (e.g. "gift shop" or "near snack bar"). There are over 10,000 coins which I hope to ultimately have in the database. * Each location will be unique within an "attraction" (tourist attraction, e.g. Disney World's Magic Kingdom). * Each tourist attraction will be within a city, which is within a state (where applicable) and then within a country. There are thousands of attractions. * Users will be able to add, on a moderated basis, cities, attractions, locations, and coins. * Users will be able to modify, on a moderated basis, attractions, locations, and coins. * Users will be able to add comments, on a moderated basis, to attractions and locations. * Users will be able to search the database based on multiple fields * Users will be able to add (and delete) coins to their personal collections, and add comments about the coins. * Users using the web-based app on their phones will be able to search for nearby locations -- this is, in my opinion, the hardest part, and I'm not sure how this will be implemented. * I don't want to use an existing framework to build this application--I find them bloated and difficult to learn to use. * The code must be well-commented. If you're not available later on and the code needs to be modified, someone else should be able to easily read it and make changes. If you're interested, please PM me and include your email address and tell me a bit about yourself. If it sounds like we could work together, I'll send you the hand-drawn wireframes I have made for the application, which will make things more clear (I hope!).
