php capture choice dropdown

Greetings,

how can i capture the choice that a user has selected from my drop down menu:

 

<form name="jumpp">

<select name="menu">

  <option selected disabled hidden value=''></option>"

  <option value="NewYork">New York</option>

  <option value="London">London</option>

</select>

</form>

 

i tried the following with no luck.

Welcome <?php echo $_POST["menu"]; ?>

1. You need to "submit" the form to send the data to the server.

2. Unless you specify "post" as the form's method it will default to "get" so you would need to use $_GET instead of $_POST
