How to add custom fields to billing section in Magento one step checkout page?

I tried adding custom fields to Magento (1.7) One step checkout billing section but the fields can't be saved. Is their any way to add custom fields and save the data of custom fields?

The issue does not occurs while adding fields to Magento default page.
